FAQs
expand_moreWhat are the different kinds of petitions that BoPeep offers?
BoPeep supports three petition types, each offering a different level of anonymity:
- Blind Petitions
Signatures are fully anonymous—even to the creator. The final petition shows:
- Invitation-only: number of signers, number of invitees, and domain names of invitees’ email addresses (e.g., @gmail.com)—never full addresses.
- Public: only the total number of people who signed.
- Semi-Blind Petitions Signatures are anonymous until a threshold is met. Invitation-only petitions use a percentage of invitees; public petitions use a fixed signature count. If enough people sign, all signatures (names and emails) become visible. If the threshold is not met, the petition self-deletes after two weeks.
- Transparent Petitions Signatures (names and emails) are visible.
expand_moreWhat information is visible on the final petition?
Transparent Petitions: Petition text, names, and email addresses of signers. Semi-Blind Petitions: Same as Transparent—only if the threshold is met. Blind Petitions: Petition text and how many people signed. Invitation-only blind petitions also show the number of invitees and email domains (not full addresses). Public blind petitions show only the signature count.
expand_moreCan the creator of the petition see who signs?
Blind Petitions: No—signatures are never visible to anyone, including the creator. Semi-Blind Petitions: Not at first. But if the signature threshold is met, all signatures become visible to the creator and other signers (invitation-only or public). Transparent Petitions: Yes.
expand_moreIs the creator of a petition anonymous?
Yes. The creator’s identity is never shown. If the creator also signs the petition, their name will appear among the signers (if applicable), but the petition will not indicate who started it.
expand_moreWhat happens if the threshold is not met in a Semi-Blind petition?
If the threshold is not met:
- No signatures are revealed
- The petition self-deletes after two weeks
- Not even the creator can access the responses
expand_moreDoes it cost money?
- Creating a public transparent petition is free.
- Creating a public semi-blind, public blind, or invitation-only petition costs $9.99.
- Signing a petition is always free, and no account is required.
- You can test BoPeep’s invitation-only function for free by creating a petition with only one recipient—there’s no charge in that case.
expand_moreWhat if BoPeep’s emails are caught in a spam filter?
This can happen depending on the recipient’s email settings. If someone doesn’t receive their invitation, ask them to check their spam folder for an email from BoPeep. Once your petition is final, you can either:
- Have BoPeep send it anonymously
- Or distribute it yourself by email or as a printed copy
expand_moreI’ve created a petition and some people have signed. Why can’t I see the final version yet?
When you can view the final results depends on how your petition was set up:
- Invitation-only: when the deadline you set has passed, or all invited recipients have responded.
- Public: according to the petition type—signatures on transparent petitions may be visible as people sign; semi-blind results unlock only if the signature threshold is met; blind petitions always keep identities hidden.
Until those conditions are met, even Transparent invitation-only petitions will keep signatures hidden from the creator. If your petition is Semi-Blind and does not meet the signature threshold, no signatures will be revealed.
